The Qualsafe Level 3 Award in Mental Health First Aid MHFA in the Workplace (RQF) UK Training Course is an important qualification designed to increase awareness of mental health issues and reduce the stigma associated with them in the UK.

With 1 in 4 people likely to experience mental health problems each year, organisations must promote positive mental health and guide colleagues toward professional help.

This nationally recognised qualification provides candidates with the skills, knowledge and confidence to support, reassure and signpost colleagues to professional support.

It is ideal for staff at every level, including human resources, managers, supervisors and team leaders, who want to become mental health first aiders and actively promote positive mental health within their workplace.

A & Z Mental Health First Aid Training is an accredited training provider approved by Qualsafe Awards, an Awarding Organisation recognised by Ofqual to offer regulated training and qualifications.

Intended Audience

The Qualsafe Level 3 Award in Mental Health First Aid MHFA in the Workplace (RQF) is a regulated and nationally recognised qualification that has been specifically designed for those who would like to become a Mental Health First Aider in their workplace. This qualification raises learners’ awareness of mental health and develops an understanding of how to support, reassure and signpost colleagues to professional support.

Overview

Throughout this 2-day course, learners will develop the knowledge, skills, and confidence to actively promote positive mental health in the workplace by covering a range of topics, including: understanding mental health and its importance, awareness of their own wellbeing as a Mental Health First Aider, common mental health conditions, how to support those experiencing poor mental health at work with tools such as active listening and non-judgemental support.

During this 2-day course, you will cover:

  • Identifying characteristics and features of common mental health conditions.
  • The Importance of your own well-being as a Mental Health First Aider.
  • Best practices for employers in relation to mental health in the workplace.
  • Supporting those experiencing mental health issues at work.

 

During the course, our trainers will provide an engaging learning experience through video, case studies, real-life examples of mental health issues, workbook activities, group discussions, and much more.

Prerequisites

Before applying for this course, please ensure you meet the following criteria:

You must be at least 18 years old on the first day of training.

Note: To remain an approved Mental Health First Aider in the Workplace, learners will need to update their Qualsafe Level 3 Award in Mental Health First Aid in the Workplace (RQF) every 3 years.

On completion of the 2-day QA Level 3 Award in Mental Health First Aid in the Workplace (RQF) qualification, you will receive 3 years of certification.

You will gain in-depth knowledge of mental health and tools to help you support your own mental health and that of your colleagues.

Upon successful completion of all of our courses candidates can choose to receive a free E certificate or a printed certificate at an extra cost of £12.50.

Qualsafe Level 2 Award in Understanding Mental Health in the Workplace (RQF) Training Course

It has been specifically designed to raise awareness of the signs and symptoms of common mental health conditions in the workplace and how best to offer support and guidance to colleagues.

Throughout this 1-day course, learners will develop an understanding of the importance of positive mental health and well-being in the workplace and the role that everyone plays in recognising mental health issues at work.

Qualsafe Level 1 Award in Introduction to Mental Health in the Workplace (RQF) Training Course

Promoting good mental health inside and outside of the workplace is essential, particularly as we understand more about how poor mental health can negatively affect our relationships and resilience to overcome challenges.


Recognising and understanding common mental health issues is also vital to helping to reduce the stigma associated with mental health in the UK.

The Qualsafe Level 1 Award in Introduction to Mental Health in the Workplace (RQF) is a regulated and nationally recognised qualification for people who wish to raise their awareness of mental health and improve their mindfulness in work and everyday life.

Overview

Throughout this half-day course, learners will be introduced to mental health issues such as depression, suicide and build an understanding of stress.


Topics covered include:

An introduction to the use of appropriate language when supporting others and the importance of self-care as a tool to potentially improve mental health.

Children And Young People's Mental Health Awareness Training Course

This course aims to raise awareness of mental health in children and its importance, giving you a better understanding of your legal responsibilities and how to support them. Awareness training, such as this course, helps to identify and reduce risks.

Intended Audience

This course is intended for all individuals including volunteers that work with or alongside children.

After care

We offer post-training course support. A trainer will contact you within 14 days of course completion for feedback and to check in.

We pride ourselves on our aftercare which enables candidates the opportunity to discuss their thoughts and feelings post-training course.

We believe that supporting our candidate’s mental health and well-being is crucial for them to be able to carry out their role as a mental health first aider effectively.

3 Yearly Refresher Training Course

If it’s time to update your skills, book a Mental Health First Aid Refresher Training Course now and feel confident that you perform your vital role safely.

This 1-day MHFA refresher course is for Mental Health First Aiders to refresh and practice their skills and re-visit the topics explored during the original Mental Health First Aid Level 3 course.

Just like physical first aid skills, it is important to keep up to date to be effective in your role.

The MHFA refresher course is also a great opportunity to share your experiences so far and soundboard with other Mental Health First Aiders.

All courses are led by experienced MHFA-accredited instructors.

Refresher Course (3 yearly) 1 day – price includes workbook and certificate (upon successful completion).

Available to those who have previously completed a Level 3 Award in Mental Health First Aid in the Workplace.

Workbook

Upon confirming your place on the QA Level 2 award in Understanding Mental Health in the Workplace and Level 3 Mental Health First Aid in the Workplace you will be sent a free complimentary course guide and workbook.

Not only will this book provide you with invaluable support, including interactive exercises, whilst in the classroom but it can also be used upon completing your course as a toolkit that will guide you in wide-ranging contexts where mental health and wellbeing support is required.

Requirements

Face-to-face courses must be attended in full to become a certified Mental Health First Aider. Numbers per course are limited to 16 people so that we can provide adequate support.

Online/Remote training (virtual classroom) courses must be attended in full to become a certified Mental Health First Aider. Numbers per course are limited to 8 people so that we can provide adequate support.

For bookings of more than 16 candidates please contact us to discuss a bespoke package.

Face-to-face training: Available for groups of 8 or more from the same organisation that have a suitable training room/venue depending on location.
